when THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC began to devastate the world in 2019, Danielle bernstein felt a responsibility to USE HER PLATFORM AND REACH TO HELP OTHERS.

She called on her more than 2.5 million followers and the response was powerful. In the first months of the pandemic, Danielle and the WeWoreWhat community helped keep dozens of small businesses afloat and donated tens of thousands of dollars to organizations that needed it most. She knew she wanted to create a charitable arm of her business, as a way to continue these giveback initiatives past the pandemic.

Inspired by how Danielle was leveraging WeWoreWhat, Alexandra Bushman, a long-time follower, reached out for help. COVID-19 was threatening the existence of Eat Offbeat, the small refugee and immigrant-led catering company where she worked. Danielle raised awareness of Eat Offbeat through her following, driving orders and helping to keep an amazing group of chefs in the kitchen doing what they love to do. From there, the seeds for WeGaveWhat were planted.

Danielle and Alex founded WeGaveWhat to amplify the power of social media as a tool to raise awareness of amazing, diverse small businesses and organizations and to inspire collective action. Our goal is to give anyone and everyone an outlet to create change and support issues bigger than ourselves. Whether it’s our time, our voice, our support, our compassion -- we all have something to give.
